Energy Systems Goes Electric! Adding a solar electric
system to your home or business is an exciting way to
combat increasing energy costs, while reducing carbon
emissions at the same time. Systems can be sized to
generate between 5%-95% of your total electrical usage.
Solar
Electric Systems, utilizing Photovoltaic (PV) Panels,
convert sunlight directly into electricity. As light
photons strike silicon cells in a PV panel, electrons
are knocked loose from their atoms, producing direct
current (DC). An inverter is used to transform DC power
into home, business, and grid usable AC (alternating
current) power.
For
the best performance, Solar Panels must be pitched south.
Grid-Tied Systems offer the best combination of efficiency
and low maintenance. Battery storage can be added to
a system, but requires additional components.
If
you’re looking for the most economical way to
supply your home with electricity when the power goes
out, buy a gas generator. If you want to generate clean,
green energy for decades to come, then invest in a photovoltaic
system.
PV
has no moving parts. There’s nothing to wear out.
Expect a 40+ year life from your panels. PV is an effective
and safe technology. NASA has been using PV since the
50s. And vast improvements to inverter technology have
resulted in units that are over 95% efficient. But,
it doesn’t matter how good the technology is if
there’s no sun to feed the panels.
Do
we have enough sun in Michigan to produce electricity?
Absolutely. Michigan receives over 2000 peak sun-hours
per year, on average. You can expect between 1400 and
1800 kWH per year from each kW of PV installed in Michigan.
That’s only 15% less than Florida receives and
it’s more than Germany. Germany is the global
leader in PV with over 3500 MW of PV installed.
We
have installed less than 1 MW in Michigan. It’s
time to start catching up and Mechanical Energy System’s
BY-SOLAR division is here to help.We use state of the
art panels and components made by such manufacturers
as Sanyo, Sharp, Uni-Solar, Fronius, and SMA Sunny Boy.
Mechanical
Energy Systems offers expert, quality installation as
well as do-it-yourself kits for the solar enthusiast.
